We start our projects by asking budget, but putting into the terms of stores. Do you want the Target, the Pottery Barn/West Elm, or the Designer? Obviously, the more furniture you have the more it’s going to add up no matter which Budget Tier you are in. But, we love being able to surprise our clients when they can afford more or better quality items by cutting costs on other items.
This entire room makeover cost less than $3K! Our budget breakdown is below:
The Process & Details:
We created a mood board for our client to show how everything looks pulled together and built a space plan for the layout to make sure it ALL fits. Once we got the sign off from the client, we went to work on ordering. We love taking things OFF your busy plate, so we ordered everything & arranged delivery.
The upholstered bed is our Vance Bed here at Crane & Home (size Full) in Navy Linen. This bed is made in the USA and is amazing quality. We’ve personally owned a bed by this vendor and loved it (and have our second one on the way!)
Our goal was to make this room a retreat and modern, so we paired it with a rug that is soft to walk on in a trending Moroccan pattern. We’re not afraid to mix navy & black if it is visually pleasing, and this definitely was. To break up the white walls, we chose wooden side tables with cane detail, which pared perfectly with ceramic lamps. The framed fabric was too pretty not to include.
The dresser needed to be different and a statement piece – it is the first thing you see as you walk into the room. We added a fluted trim and painted the dresser in the same color as the wall, but with a different sheen for contrast.
Where did we really save? Curtains & hardware, the lamp on the desk, and the ceiling fan. Ikea is our favorite place for curtains. You cannot beat the price for something for something that in my humble opinion, people probably can’t tell the difference between designer & budget. I may be naïve, but I’m sticking to my guns for now. The lamp is Target & fan is Amazon, but we found on Facebook Marketplace.
